The DRX9000: The New Wave in Non-surgical Spinal Decompression

westminster drx9000 The DRX9000: The New Wave in Non surgical Spinal DecompressionAt the start of the new millennia, it was the introduction of the VAX-D that saw the rise of non-surgical spinal decompression therapy, giving new hope to chronic back pain sufferers who are afraid of the complications of surgery or in those whom conventional treatments did not give relief.

Although a number of spinal decompression machines have entered the market after the VAX-D, a new type of spinal decompression table that has garnered rave reviews from physicians and patients alike is the DRX9000 or also the DRX-9000.

What is the DRX9000 and How Does it Work?

Developed by Axiom Worldwide, the DRX9000 is a highly specialized adjustable support table equipped with state-of-the-art electronic and computer technology. It is designed to provide a multi-factored approach to non-surgical spinal decompression, so that relief from lower back pain and other symptoms could be achieved.

The DRX9000 works by creating a vacuum, called “negative intradiscal pressure”, which pulls herniated material back into the disc, as well as water and other nutrients that would promote hydration, healing and regeneration of the once herniated disc.

What makes the DRX9000 unique is that the traction force is monitored by sensors on the table. When the body is stretched, tension is felt and the body reacts by going into spasm. This spasm reaction is countered by the DRX9000 by going through cycles of pulling and relaxation while decompression is being administered. Since the patient is more relaxed and not fighting the traction, the decompression treatment becomes much more effective.

What Conditions Would Benefit from the DRX9000?

The DRX9000 has proven to be effective in alleviating pain in patients suffering from chronic low back pain resulting from bulging and herniated discs, disc degeneration, and sciatica.

Certain reviews on the machine have stated that the DRX9000 is also effective in spinal stenosis. By general definition, stenosis means narrowing of either the spinal canal or the intervertebral foramen. If the stenosis is caused by a bulging or herniated nucleus pulposus, the DRX9000 would be helpful. However, if it is a bony stenosis (the narrowing is caused by excess bone such as bone spurs), spinal decompression with the DRX9000 would not work.

What are the Contraindications of DRX9000 Treatment?

There are certain conditions that would not benefit from the DRX9000. These include the following…

  • Severe osteoporosis (which may result in spinal fracture during treatment)
  • Active spinal cancer
  • Spinal infection
  • Spondylolisthesis (Unstable spine)
  • Pregnancy (the tight harness used for traction would compress the abdomen)
  • Spinal fusion with retained hardware (such as screws and plates in the area of the spine to be treated)

Health institutes offering the DRX9000 claim the machine to be “therapist-” and “technician-friendly” unlike the VAX-D, making it very easy to use on patients. In fact, several of these pain management centers, such as in New York and San Antonio, have been posting the results of research studies on the web, showing the machine’s efficacy.

However, other institutes have less than satisfactory experiences with the DRX9000, claiming non-relief of symptoms and aggravation of pain. As a result, there have been a number of DRX9000 lawsuits that have been filed against the manufacturer.

i getting this treatment for stg 2 degenerative spondylolisthesis with some separation ( maybe old) of the pars, one surgeon told me to hold, the other is not concerned. Xray does not show mechanical stability, but one surgeon has diff. opinion ( maybe as a reason to proceed with surgery).
need a more definitive answer>
